Thrive - Using Gardening to Change Lives Print E-mail

Thrive wants to work with the local community in Stockwell to create a well being garden in Slade Gardens. The idea is to join together to design a fabulous new garden in the centre of the site brimming with vegetables, salad crops fruit and herbs and full of colour and scent.

There are two ways you can be part of this

•    Join a community ‘garden gang’. We will be holding meetings for local people to help set up volunteer gardening groups to become involved in designing and creating the garden. Thrive will provide advice and support as well as all the seeds and plants for the project

•    Join our supported gardening sessions for local people who are living with depression, stress, anxiety or mental ill health. Thrive’s trained staff will work to provide a therapeutic environment to help use the power of gardening to improve health and well being

The project will start in April and run for 6 months. As well as gardening days there will be a summer open day to celebrate the new garden. At the end of the project, Thrive will provide a garden hand-over manual and local people will take on the garden.

To find out more, you can call Sarah or John on 0207 720 2212 or attend one of the community meetings.
