  Course Aims

 

 This course is aimed at adult learners who have a limited or no knowledge of   the computers or the internet. It is designed to develop basic skills.

What the course will cover

 

The course provides the opportunity to sample Microsoft Word computer package, use the internet and become familiar with some computer terminology.  We will cover;
Introduction to computers, Introduction to Microsoft Word, Introduction to the internet, Introduction to emailing

Course Objectives/Outcomes


At the end of the programme, you should be able to:


You will understand how to operate a computer, have an understanding of what the computer can do and you will have a basic understanding of software and hardware.  After completing the course you will be able to; Log on and off the computers, Use the mouse and the keyboard, Enter and edit information, Save and retrieve information, Identify the internet, Use the internet to perform a basic search, Create your own email account, Understand how to use the email facility and send and receive emails.

How I will learn & be assessed

 

You will be given helpful exercises to improve your skills and will receive feedback from your tutor (Dawn) to help you along the way.

You will know you are progressing because you will be producing work as we progress, and your tutor will give you feedback throughout the course on you progression.

Will I gain a Qualification?

 

This is not an accredited course, however you will receive a certificate if your attendance and the level of work your produce is of a good standard.

What could this course lead to?

 

After completing this course you can progress onto an intermediate level course and work towards achieving a qualification.

 Are there any other costs (e.g. certification, materials, I need to buy before or during the course?

 

  The course costs £10 which includes course material and a  USB stick to save your work.
