What this course is about

(Course aims & objectives)

 

This course is aimed at adult learners who have a limited or no knowledge of the computers or the internet. It is designed to develop basic skills. You will understand how to operate a computer, have an understanding of what the computer can do and you will have a basic understanding of software and hardware.  After completing the course you will be able to; Log on and off the computers, Use the mouse and the keyboard, Enter and edit information, Save and retrieve information, Identify the internet, Use the internet to perform a basic search, Create your own email account, Understand how to use the email facility and send and receive emails.

What the course will cover

 

At the end of the programme, you should be able to:

A

Turn on a computer and access different programmes within the computer menu.

B

You will be able to use Microsoft Word to produce a document.

C

You will be able to edit documents, save and print them.

 

D

You will be able to us the internet to perform basic searches for information.

E

You will be able to open an e-mail account and send and receive e-mails.

F

You will have a basic understanding of how to use the e-mail account.

How I will learn & be assessed

 

You will be given helpful exercises to improve your skills and will receive feedback from your tutor (Dawn) to help you along the way.

Will I gain a Qualification?

 

This is not an accredited course, however you will receive a certificate if your attendance and the level of work your produce is of a good standard.

What could this course lead to?

 

After completing this course you can progress onto an intermediate level course and work towards achieving a qualification.

How much does it cost?

 

The tutor will provide you with note paper, however we do recommend that you purchase a USB stick, which you can purchase from us for a minimal price or other outlet stores.

Lambeth awards SCRC its third 3 year adult learning contract

Lambeth has just awarded SCRC its third 3 year adult learning contract, only this year it’s for 4 years. Still unknown is what this means in cash terms, or number of courses SCRC will be able to run. Watch this space for further details.
